Adobe changed the internal string encoding for layer and swatch names from MacRoman/Windows-1252 to UTF-16LE without updating the ExtendScript DOM. Scripts comparing strings using == failed because byte-order marks (BOM) differed. Recommendation: Use localCompare() or convert to UTF-8 before comparison.
