John Carter follows a bitter, gold-prospecting Civil War captain (Taylor Kitsch) who is mysteriously transported to Barsoom (Mars). On this dying planet, gravity is weaker, allowing him to leap impossibly high and possess superhuman strength. He gets caught between warring city-states—the humanoid Heliumites and the barbaric, four-armed Tharks (led by Willem Dafoe’s performance-captured character).
