The story begins in 1955, Japan. Six teenage boys—Mario, Suppon, Baremoto, Heita, Joe, and the leader, Rokurouta Sakuragi—are sent to the brutal Shounan Special Reform School. They are assigned to Cell No. 6 (Nisha Rokubou), where they meet an older inmate, Ishihara, nicknamed "Brother." Together, the "Seven from Cell No. 6" endure unimaginable abuse, torture, and societal prejudice. The anime follows their fight for survival, friendship, and eventually, their pursuit of dreams outside the prison walls.

From then on, Rokubou honored the act of downloading as a ritual: once a year, on the wettest night, someone brought an old fragment and Nisha read color into it.
