YOUR POSITION CONFIRMED IN 24 HOURS
In many modern films, the biological parent has died. The step-parent must compete with a ghost.
Gone are the days when "blended family" simply meant two single parents falling in love without any emotional baggage. Modern cinema is tearing up the old rulebook and giving us raw, complicated, and beautifully messy portrayals of step-relationships.
"This film shows the 'Slow Merger' model. Conflict isn't between stepparent and child, but between bio-dad's guilt and his need for help. The step-mom earns her place through action (driving to practice) not proclamation. Compare this to the 'Explosive Rejection' model in Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile."
