The movie begins with a couple, Elliot (Mark Wahlberg) and Alma (Zooey Deschanel), driving to their vacation home in Pennsylvania. As they stop at a gas station, they notice a strange, eerie fog surrounding the area. Suddenly, people around them start to die, seemingly without any reason. As the news spreads, Elliot and Alma realize that a mysterious toxin is spreading across the country, causing people to kill themselves.

As he made his way home, he met his friend, Aisha, who was frantically trying to contact her family. They had heard rumors of a mysterious event, dubbed "The Happening," which was causing people to... well, it seemed as though they were being controlled by some unseen force.

The friends realized that they were in grave danger. The plants were emitting a toxin that was affecting the human brain, turning people into... well, not quite zombies, but more like puppets under the control of the plant kingdom.

The Happening is M. Night Shyamalan’s third‑installment in the “Twilight Zone”‑style thriller series, released in 2008. The film was later dubbed into Hindi for the Indian market, allowing a broader audience to experience Shyamalan’s signature blend of suspense, mystery, and philosophical undertones.
