Consider ZBrush Core Mini the training wheels. Once you hit the polygon limit or desperately need to paint skin tones, you have two logical upgrade paths:
You can use "Split" (under Tool > SubTool) to separate a mesh into parts. Sculpt a head, mask the eye area (Ctrl + click), and then "Split Masked." Now the eye is a separate object you can move independently. pixologic zbrush core mini
You are stuck with the Core 8. You cannot download David’s famous "Orb Brushes" or make your own alphas. This limits surface texture (no fine pores or scales unless you stamp them manually with basic brushes). Consider ZBrush Core Mini the training wheels
In full ZBrush, you can subdivide up to 7 levels and jump back to level 1 to fix the big shape. Core Mini only allows "divide" (increase polygons) but you cannot easily go back to low-poly. This is the biggest hurdle for professional workflows. You are stuck with the Core 8
