Yamaha’s Style File Format is a containerized MIDI structure containing up to 16 sections (Main A-D, Fill In AA-BB, Intro/Ending) and 4 channel variation layers. Unlike standard SMFs (Standard MIDI Files), style files embed CASM (Channel Aftertouch/Sound Mapping) data dictating how MIDI notes transpose according to chord recognition (e.g., Cm7, G/B).
