Vijaya had a deep affinity for heavy Kanjeevaram silk sarees. However, her styling trick was contrast. While the saree itself would be a rich jewel tone (emerald green, royal blue, or deep maroon), her blouses were often contrasting shades of gold or cream. She preferred elbow-length sleeves and a slightly deeper neckline than the typical conservative cuts, making her look regal yet modern for the 1970s and 80s.
