Critical reception was overwhelmingly positive. The film holds a strong rating on IMDb and was screened at the Beijing International Film Festival. Critics praised its screenplay, its raw depiction of rural Bihar, and its unforgettable climax where an aging Manjhi finally sees the first vehicle pass through his path.

Dashrath Manjhi was born on January 14, 1934, in the Atla village of Bihar, India. He belonged to a poor family and had to drop out of school in the seventh grade to support his family financially. Despite the challenges, Manjhi's determination and strong willpower drove him to pursue his dreams. In 1960, he decided to carve a path through the mountain to connect his village to the nearest town, Gehlor, which was about 3 kilometers away. The journey on foot would take around 7 hours, and Manjhi wanted to reduce the travel time for his family and community. manjhi the mountain man filmyzillacom free
